The Story
The Story is an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel. There are no verse references, and Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. For those intimidated or overwhelmed by the unabridged Bible, The Story helps people understand God’s Word more fully and engage with it more easily.
Simple, accessible, and easy to use, churches are finding The Story a powerful way to engage their people in Bible reading like never before. As The Story brings the Bible to life, the broad scope of God’s message will penetrate hearts. People of all ages will be swept up in the story of God’s love and God’s plan for their lives.

Joy Meadows Outdoor Adventure Camp • Local Mission Trip
Outdoor Adventure Camp at Joy Meadows intentionally helps the children and the parents of our foster and adoptive community. They provide a week of camp experiences, relational connection in a trauma-informed setting, shared experiences with other children who can identify with each other, and time with adults who can share the love of Jesus through fun, nature-based activities. Children who have experienced trauma receive the message of the hope of Jesus best when it is through an intentional, relational connection over multiple interactions. Joy Meadows staff will lead the Westside Family Church mission team and work alongside them during the week of camp. The primary role of the missions team is to connect with kids, have fun, and build relationships.

A Day with Mission Adelante • Serve Day
Serving as a group can be a very rewarding experience, and the impact on our store is huge! Adelante Thrift has volunteer opportunities six days of the week that are perfect for groups of various sizes and ages. Many groups make serving at Adelante Thrift a regular activity. Partnership and collaboration are the ingredients to sustainable community development. Adelante Thrift offers service opportunities for individuals, groups, churches, schools and businesses six days of the week. From sorting to cleaning or helping our customers, there's a spot for everyone!
Many refugees come to the country with little more than papers. Thrift’s low costs allow people, no matter where they come from, to have the dignity of providing for themselves and their families and knowing that they are part of a community. There was also a need for a thrift store as resettlement was booming and there was only one other thrift store in the area. Finally, thrift stores bring others together by functioning through donations, volunteers, and shoppers. And so, our mission drove us to choose thrift as a space where community could be uplifted, supported, and dignified by every person.

KCK Tour: Visit Our Partners
Please take a tour with us visiting through Kansas City to discover the why behind volunteering for the organizations we partner with.
Our vans will leave the Westside Family Parking lot at 8:45 am and make our first stop at Avenue of Life: A goal as big as ending homelessness for kids in Kansas City cannot be accomplished alone. You will have a 30-minute tour and guide to learn why they utilize a Collective Impact approach to helping Wyandotte County. There you will have a 45-minute volunteering opportunity alongside their ministry.
11:30 am we will stop by a local restaurant for lunch.
12:30 pm We will be on our way to Mission Adelante for a quick tour and video on their mission focus: We envision a growing multicultural community of disciples making disciples, where people from all places are thriving and using our gifts together to transform our neighborhood and the world for the glory of Jesus Christ. Followed by an hour of volunteering at their local thrift shop which we will also drive you to!
Our final stop will bring you back to the church by 3:00 pm after a full day of learning and serving!
Families are welcome. It is a longer day, so please be advised of that when registering children under the age of 10 years old.

Winter Avenue of Life Food Drive
Avenue of Life (AOL) is the backbone for an initiative to end homelessness serving all school districts in Wyandotte County (Kansas City Kansas, Turner Unified, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and Piper) providing essential emergency services such as housing, food, and utilities.
As a longtime community partner to Westside, we look for opportunities to come alongside AOL and join their efforts. After the holidays, their food pantry is depleted after assisting existing families as well as those emergencies that arise this time of year. You can help by providing some (or all!) of the items on the list provided.
Stop by the Impact nook in the Main Commons and pick up a bag along with provided list of needed items. Return filled bag to the South Commons on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Sign up using link below to help sort the food on February 11, 2024 during each of the the services.
